Leaders Circle Society Celebrates One Book One Community We had a wonderful time with our Leaders Circle donors and author Victoria Christopher Murray, celebrating her appearance at the March 10th One Book One Community event. The Library Foundation is honored to sponsor this special program bringing together the community through a shared reading experience. We’re grateful to the Harry Shapiro Charitable Foundation, which recently awarded the Library Foundation a $15,000 grant to support the libraries’ county-wide Summer Learning program!  Summer learning provides engaging educational programs, keeps children safe and healthy, and sends students back to school ready to learn. Last summer over 17,000 attendees participated in 900 library programs. 2 Tax-Savvy Ways to Support Our Libraries As we approach Tax Day, we want to highlight two smart ways to help sustain our strong public libraries — while supporting your own personal finances. 1. IRA giving: If you are 70.5 and older and have a traditional IRA, you can donate from your account using this online tool. This kind of donation not only helps the Library Foundation meet our goals in real-time but may also help you reduce your future tax burden, allowing you to give and save at the same time. Care with crypto: If you own cryptocurrency, donating it directly to the Library Foundation can be a powerful way to advance learning and literacy in our community, while potentially reducing your future tax burden. Thanks to generous grants from the Koski Family Foundation and the Bladel Charitable Trust, Sarasota libraries now have mobile tablets for library cardholders to check out! Launchpads are loaded with educational and entertainment content for the whole family - from young children to teens to adults - with no internet access needed. Library Giving Day April 4, 2023 Please plan to join us and library supporters across the country as we celebrate Library Giving Day! This special day recognizes the critical role libraries play in our community and how our support makes a difference.
