Thank you, Venice Yacht Club Charitable Foundation and Friends of the Jacaranda Library!
We had a wonderful time celebrating the opening of the new Music Garden at Jacaranda Library! This outdoor interactive installation features life-sized instruments designed for sensory engagement and music exploration. Music gardens enhance motor skills, support social development, and increase language acquisition in young children. We’re grateful for the grants from the Venice Yacht Club Charitable Foundation and Friends of the Jacaranda Library that made this gift possible.

Our youngest doctors had a fantastic time at Gulf Gate Library’s Little Doctors’ School! Children ages 3 to 6 explored the role of muscles, nerves, and bones, and had fun making chalk x-rays of their own hands. Many thanks to Barbara Shocket for her generous grant providing this engaging programming in memory of her husband, Dr. Everett Shocket.
Summer Learning at Our Libraries
The Foundation is delighted to support our libraries’ Summer Learning program with a $43,000 grant to enrich programming. This gift has allowed the library system to offer its most robust programming ever, with 200 in-person programs for all ages. We are honored to be a Summer Learning partner and thrilled that this year’s All Together Now summer program has enrolled a record-setting 2,000 participants across all age groups! Community Advocacy Team at Work
Members of our Community Advocacy Team (CAT) met with our County Commissioners to share our residents’ love for our libraries and advocate for additional funding for books and materials. Thank you to our CAT members for their commitment to this important grassroots work that helps to ensure the strength and accessibility of our libraries!
We had a great time attending SRQCon 2023 at the Selby Public Library this month. This all-ages pop culture convention featured panels, demonstrations, cosplay, trivia, gaming, and crafts -- all celebrating the world of anime, comic books, and fantasy. A big shout out to our library staff and participants who made this popular event such a success!
