Koski Family Foundation Supports Early Learning!

Thanks to a generous grant from the Koski Family Foundation, the library system will be able to purchase two additional AWE Early Learning Stations for the youth area.

So many families with young children (like this one!) enjoy using these special computers to help their children explore colors, letters, numbers and so much more, while becoming familiar with the technology they’ll use once they start school.

If you’d like to learn more about how donations to the Library Foundation can support early learning, please contact Alisa Mitchell, Executive Director, at alisa.mitchell@sarasotalibraryfoundation.org.

One for the Books!

Congratulations to our Libraries and Historical Resources for a
wonderful Centennial Celebration!

Our libraries provided 100 events in 100 days to help celebrate Sarasota’s centennial. From the kick-off event at the Historic Courthouse to the wrap-up event at Warm Mineral Springs, our libraries did an outstanding job helping us learn more about this place we call home. Check out the video above for the inside scoop.

Children Explore and Learn,
Thanks to the Harry Shapiro Charitable Foundation

A generous grant from the Harry Shapiro Charitable Foundation is funding Makedo “To-Go” Kits, available at all libraries for ages 5 and up starting Monday, July 26. Makedo kits support the libraries’ Creation Station goals to encourage young engineers to imagine, design and create with a basic cardboard box promoting hands-on learning opportunities in the areas of science, technology, engineering, arts and math.

Nourishing Children’s
Minds and Bodies

Libraries are a vital community resource that do so much more than provide wonderful books. This summer our libraries are continuing their very successful partnership with All Faiths Food Bank and the Sarasota County School System to provide free snack bags to children under age 18, who might otherwise go hungry when school is out of session. What Are YOU Reading?

Here at the Library Foundation, we love a good read. Our perfect summer consists of sun, water, lots of good books, and plenty of time to read them. (A tall frozen drink wouldn’t hurt, either!) Make sure you check out the New Books at your favorite library location to find your perfect summer read.
