Congratulations to Board Member
Daniela Rodriguez!

We’re so proud of Daniela, who graduated from Riverview High School this month and will be attending the State College of Florida to study Business for Entrepreneurship with a minor in Education.

Daniela has been a wonderful addition to our board this year. She has inspired us with her love of reading and reminded us how incredibly important libraries are to our students. Thank you, Daniela, for your service to our foundation.

Best wishes for what we know is a very bright future!

Library Foundation Donors Increase Digital Resources

Last year, borrowing of digital resources from our libraries increased an incredible 55%. Recognizing the need for more eBooks and audio books, the foundation continues to invest in these resources for our libraries and our community. A big thank you to all the donors who support the Library Foundation for making this possible!

Just in Time for Father’s Day…

The Gulf Gate Library offers monthly Creation Station “Grab n Go” Wood Craft kits.
For ages 10+, each kit contains the components needed to build and paint your own craft at home. Librarian Robert Vaura printed the wood materials on the GlowForge, a 3D laser cutter powered by donations from Charles & Margery Barancik Foundation and the Friends of the Gulf Gate Library. The June kit features a wooden fish for Father’s Day. Available while supplies last at Gulf Gate Library.

What Are You Reading?

We asked Board member Judy Liersch what she’s been reading lately.

I’ve been reading Under the Tuscan Sun: At Home in Italy, by Frances Mayes. This is an oldie but goodie that I somehow missed when it first came out and was on the bestseller list for two years.

I relished the writing, the wonderful descriptions of Tuscan landscape, the author’s delight in the pleasure and adventure of restoring beauty to a very old farmhouse, her gardening acumen, the gourmet meals she created from simple ingredients grounded in la cucina povera (the poor kitchen.) And, her wanderings around Tuscany brought back delightful memories of a “sister trip” with my two sibs in 2011.
