Books and More for Teens!

The incredibly creative staff at Betty J. Johnson North Sarasota Public Library developed these Books And More boxes for teens to grab and go. Each box has personalized book selections, games and fun themed items like invisible ink pens! A big thank you to all the library staff (and library supporters!) who have worked so hard to keep teens engaged and reading.

Celebrating Sarasota County’s Centennial

Sarasota Libraries and Historical Resources has created some wonderful programs to help us celebrate Sarasota’s centennial. To help mark the occasion, the Library Foundation invited members of the Leader’s Circle group to tour the Sarasota Historical Resources Center. Manager Rob Bendus showed some fascinating treasures from Sarasota’s past and explained the different archives available to the public.

Our Libraries Matter Now More Than Ever

We know that libraries are essential to our community’s recovery, and this patron’s comment card shows one reason why. THANK YOU to everyone who supports our libraries and the Library Foundation for making this kind of success possible. And thank you to the hard-working library staff who help connect people to the resources they need every day.

Recognizing a Library Leader

Dr. William H. Jervey, Jr. has been an incredible patron to our library system. His generous gifts to the Library Foundation have provided critical resources to ensure library programs, resources and technology stay current and accessible. We’re proud to share this wonderful documentary about Dr. Jervey and the history of the library in Venice.

What Are You Reading?

We asked Board member Hank Tafaro what he's been reading lately.

I’m currently enjoying Harlan Coben’s new book, Win.

Windsor Horne Lockwood III, or “Win” is an obscenely rich bachelor who flies the world in his private jets, commutes to his family estate in his private helicopter, and is slightly sex obsessed. In his free time, he plays at being a clever private investigator with strong ties to the FBI.

He becomes fixated with the murder of a man in New York when the FBI tells him that a very valuable painting stolen from his family was found in the man’s apartment. The FBI also believe the man was tied to the kidnapping of his cousin, Patricia, some 20 years ago. So, Win jumps on his faithful jet in his quest to solve the mysteries that have haunted the FBI for decades.

The book is a fast, fun read with some interesting twists and turns. Harlan Coben at his best. Perfect for a summer beach read.
