My Favorite Book:
“The Lion’s Paw,” by Robb White

Why I serve
I was fortunate enough to have a mother who loved reading and made sure I did too.  Books are transformative, especially for children. They allow you to imagine a world so much bigger than the one you’re in.  Public libraries make it possible for everyone to have that experience.

Alisa Mitchell is a Florida native who grew up in Sarasota.  She holds a BA degree from Smith College in Northampton, MA.  In addition to fundraising for organizations like United Way and Wellesley College, Mitchell has also done community outreach and early literacy work for the Sarasota Library System, Forty Carrots Family Center and the Community Foundation of Sarasota County.  A life-long reader, she’s delighted to have the opportunity to work on behalf of every book lover’s favorite place, the public library.
